  • Sit in a quiet place with no distractions like TV or noise. Switch off your mobile phone and put it away in another room.
  • Sit with your back straight without slouching or bending your neck or shoulders forward. Hold the book up 12 -15" away from your eyes.
  • Make sure that there is adequate light available. Use a lamp if needed.
  • Make sure you get a minimum of eight hours of sleep.
  • Eat healthy food and avoid too much tea or coffee.
  • Your brain works best when:
    • It is well rested
    • It is hydrated - drinking water is important
    • It is drawing energy from enough nutrition.
    • It is unstressed - stress hinders learning.
    • It has seen the material learnt several times - repeat and write your chapters.
  • Take short breaks after 40 -60 minutes of sitting - stretch, walk in fresh air, talk and refresh yourself.
  • Make a timetable and stick to it.
  • Break down your chapter into smaller portions.
  • Write down points in each portion and learn them- create a link in them to remember.
  • Write down the points. Read several times again.
  • Write down answers to questions without looking at the book.
  • Focus when you read- avoid reading aloud.
