Best Study Methods
- Sit in a quiet place with no distractions like TV or noise. Switch off your mobile phone and put it away in another room.
- Sit with your back straight without slouching or bending your neck or shoulders forward. Hold the book up 12 -15" away from your eyes.
- Make sure that there is adequate light available. Use a lamp if needed.
- Make sure you get a minimum of eight hours of sleep.
- Eat healthy food and avoid too much tea or coffee.
- Your brain works best when:
- It is well rested
- It is hydrated - drinking water is important
- It is drawing energy from enough nutrition.
- It is unstressed - stress hinders learning.
- It has seen the material learnt several times - repeat and write your chapters.
- Take short breaks after 40 -60 minutes of sitting - stretch, walk in fresh air, talk and refresh yourself.
- Make a timetable and stick to it.
- Break down your chapter into smaller portions.
- Write down points in each portion and learn them- create a link in them to remember.
- Write down the points. Read several times again.
- Write down answers to questions without looking at the book.
- Focus when you read- avoid reading aloud.
